Dear Members,
I hope you are all well and hopefully enjoying some welcome sunshine.
Quick update now we are just over halfway through our season.
Senior Teams:
After a slow start, the 1s (winning their last 3 out 4) and 2s (winning their last 2) are starting to find their feet in 3b and 8a. Hopefully their good form will continue.
The 3s are still going strong despite a couple of recent losses – they’re up against 2nd bottom Chipperfield this week so should get back to winning ways.
The 4s are yet to register a win, but due to weather and concessions have only played 5 games. Lots of promise though with some strong individual performances in there.

Availability has been pretty good showing the depth of talent we have at the club, please continue to make it easy for the captains and update - especially when it changes.

Performance Team
The Wheato U25s & DD have had a solid start to the season. Some decent individual and team performances in the 7.5 games they’ve played so far.
Lots of promise in the 20 U20s who have played so far. 5 games to go.
New kit looks smashing.

Fantasy League:
Now we are over half way through the season, the fantasy league race is hotting up.

Colts:
With the start of the summer holidays, the Herts junior league has come to a close. A big well done to all players, coaches, and parents for getting many of these games on. The weather had not been kind.

Please check with your colts coach to see what training and matches are on over the rest of July and August.
Congratulations to the U10s and U11s who both made it to the 2021 Finals day.
U10s 269/4 vs W Herts 274/0
U11s 273/7 vs Hemel 297/4 - then 3rd place playoff: U11s 305/6 vs Harpenden 245/8

AllStars:
A big thank you to Eamonn and the rest of the activators for running AllStars for another year.
We had over 60 5-7 year olds participate in the 8 week program.
Great feedback received, and another cohort of youngsters starting their Wheathampstead careers.

Development Team:
This is a League initiative to get those youngsters not already fully involved in Saturday League cricket a taste of the longer form (30 overs aside),
It’s part of our player pathway and will hopefully be a stepping stone for these players to our senior sides.
Dev team games start this Sunday (25th) away to Redbourn. Good luck to all involved.
2022 Isle of Wight Tour:
Time is running out to register your interest on the 2022 over the May Bank Holiday.
It’s open to all club members regardless of playing history or ability.
You have until Monday July 26th to register your interest.

Fraser Kennedy Bench:
The bench to commemorate Fraser Kennedy has been installed to the west of the ground in a prime location to watch. Fraser was integral to establishing the colts section at the club, and it wouldn’t be what it is today without him.

Cycle Path:
As many of you will have seen, a new cycle path is being build parallel to the pitch at Nomansland.
Work should take another 8 weeks or so and will link Wheathampstead and Sandridge.
Socials:
With the latest restrictions easing on the 19th July, socials are back at WCC.
Save the dates for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd/4th XI events, end of season fun days and the Annual Golf Day in October.
The first is the Curry Night, this Saturday, 24th.
Everyone is invited and your "Curry Ticket" will be £10pp which includes your food and a drink from the bar.
General Moan – Rubbish:
Can we all please ensure that we tidy up after ourselves after nets and matches. The amount of litter I’ve had to pick up recently is not cool. There are plenty of bins in and around the clubhouse.

Summer Camps:

There are still a few spaces left for the August 2021 Summer Camps.
Monday 2nd – Wednesday 4th August (£75)
Wednesday 25th – Thursday 26th August (£65)
£120 for both and siblings discount available.
This is for all boys and girls aged 8 – 13, run by our director of cricket Eamonn, along with ECB level 3 coach James Fielding.
If you’re interested and would like to find out more, please contact wcccricketcamps@outlook.com
Enjoy the rest of the season.
Cheers
Jimmy
