Dear
WCC Club Players and Colts Parents
We
are writing to ask for your assistance in supporting the people of Ukraine as they
face the worst
humanitarian crisis in Europe since the Second World War.
This
crisis has personal significance for one of our long-standing coaches and
players. Simon Evans has
worked and lived in Ukraine for the last 10 years –
working on the new safe confinement project at the
Chernobyl nuclear power
plant. Simon is in daily contact with his Ukrainian friends and colleagues Kyiv
and Chernigov, some who have managed to escape and make their way to Poland,
others have stayed
behind to face the advancing Russian army, daily missile
strikes with an increasing shortage of food and medicine.
Over
1.5million Ukrainian people have now fled the war and they are in desperate
need of assistance
with accessing essential goods and products – including:
-
Toiletries
-
Nappies
-
Batteries
-
Torches
-
Blankets
-
Sleeping
Bags
-
Power
banks
Through
Simon’s contacts in Poland, we will be making a shipment of these and other
items to
the Ukraine / Poland border on around the 20th March.
How can you help?
