Nick Martin wins the WCC Golf Day at Aldenham
19 Apr 2013
Nick Martin claimed his first Golf Major win on April 12th, winning by 1 point in very tough conditions.
The rain poured down in the morning's texas scramble but Richard Winchester's side (including Nick Field and Adam Winchester) registered 4 straight team birdies from hole 5 (missing a 6 footer for a 5th on the last!) to claim a 1 stroke victory at 3 under par.
The afternoon saw soggy greens as Nick Winchester stormed into the lead with 17 points after just 7 holes. He was closely followed by new joiner Luke Samarasinghe, Dan Norris and the Hodge.
Steve Booth put up a great defence as he registered 21 back-9 points to claim 36 but he was soon overtaken by Nick Martin on 38pts.
Talk in the clubhouse was that Dan Norris and Hodge were on for big points, but handing in their cards they both finished on 37pts meaning Nick Martin was crowned Champion of the World.
The wooden spoon went to Keith Martin for 23 points.
Nearest the Pin: Chris Dilks
Longest Drive: Nick Field
Texas Scramble: Rich & Adam Winchester, Nick Field
Individual Winner: Nick Martin
Runner Up: Daniel Norris
Third: Richard Hodgson
