After a great opening performance last weekend, Wheathampstead 1st XI traveled to Radlett in search of their first win in Division 2. With dark clouds overhead, Adam Winchester lost the toss and was asked to bat but Wheato were soon on top as openers Mark Winchester (25) and Luke Samarasinghe (77) batted with patience to share a 79 run first wicket stand. Adam Winchester (62) moved the innings along and with support from the middle order; Wheato posted a competitive 213 for 6 off their 52 overs. With the rain moving in, opening bowlers Mitchell Futcher and Nick Martin (1 for 21) bowled ruthlessly to rip through the Radlett top order, reducing them to 17 for 4 but a rain break saw the innings reduced to 35 overs. With Wheato needing a further 6 wickets from just 16 overs, Radlett showed some resistance as Johnny Armitage smashed 64 in quick time. It took a superb spell from Adam Robbins (3 for 15) to remove Armitage and Cohen in successive balls and Futcher completed a team hat-trick as he claimed his fifth wicket to finish with 5 for 23 as Wheato took the full 30 points to win by 86 runs. Next week the 1st XI welcome Botany Bay to Nomansland as they look to build on their promising start.

2nd XI (167-5) beat Clifton 1st XI (166 AO) by 5 wickets:
K. Martin 4 for 29, D. Tree 3 for 26 & P. Griffiths 58, T. Houlahan 51, E. Keane 24*

Next week the 2nd XI travel to Redbourn 2nd XI as they look to stay top of Division 6.

Wheato 3rd XI had their match against Baldock 3rd XI ruined by rain on a frustrating day away from home. Richard Hodgson won the toss and chose to bowl with Tauseef Mohammed taking two wickets and Geoff Playle one to leave Baldock 122 for 3 but the game fell victim to the weather. Next week the 3rd XI welcome Northwood Town 3rd's to Kimpton.

Sunday 1st XI (275-6) drew with Antigua Cavaliers Sunday 1st XI (127-6):
M. Futcher 81, D. Dabare 67 & D. Norris 2 for, B. Griffiths 2 for
Wheato Sunday 1st XI saw their encounter against Antigua Cavaliers cut short as a draw because of bad light and rain stoppages. After posting a mammoth total of 275 for 6 with a fine 81 from Mitchell Futcher and 67 from Dave Dabare, captain Dan Norris picked up a 2 for as did Ben Griffiths to put Wheato in the driving seat but with the constant drizzle and bad light, the game ended as a draw with Antigua Cavaliers on 127 for 6.
