Nick Weaver ends the drought at Cobden Hill

21 Jun 2010

The 1st XI's Division 4 game away to Radlett on Sat 19th June saw Nick Weaver end a 10 year wait for a WCC 1st XI century!
Many have come close over the years but not since Simon Chamberlain's unbeaten century against Bishops Stortford in 2000 has such a feat been replicated.
Nick's brilliant 108 was certainly one innings to remember.  The 'experienced' batsman flayed the ball to all parts of the ground and smashed 3 huge sixes, including one straight over the bowler's head to bring up his deserved century.  Unfortunately for the large crowd who had gathered, Nick departed soon after in an attempt to score some quick runs, but his innings can only be described as a batting masterclass.
To put it into context, Nick had scored 108 out of 134 at the time of his departure.  Only 2 other batsman made it into double figures agaisnt a well drilled Radlett attack who's potency was somewhat enhanced by a bowler friendly pitch!!!
