8th & 9th June Results

1st XI (107-5) beat Baldock 1st XI (106 All Out) by 5 wickets:
N. Martin 3 for 21, M. Futcher 3 for 36, C. Martin 50 & M. Winchester 24*

The 1st XI picked up their second victory of the season after a crushing win over Baldock. Having lost the toss, Adam Winchester's men were asked to field and opening bowlers Mitchell Fitcher (3 for 36) and Nick Martin (3 for 21) ripped through the top order to reduce Baldock to 54 for 7. After some lower order resistance, Dave Dabare (2 for 2 from 4) bowled tight lines and Baldock were eventually bowled out for 106. Chris Martin (50) played a superb knock and with good support from Mark Winchester (24*), Wheato knocked off the runs to pick up the much needed 30 points and move up to joint 8th in Division 2. Next week the 1st XI welcome Holtwhites Trinibis to Nomansland.

2nd XI (166-2) beat Old Haberdashers 1st XI (162 All Out) by 8 wickets:
S. Ledger 54*, T. Screen 67*

Jimmy McEwen's 2nd XI remain second in Division 6 as they picked up their fifth win of the season. A fine bowling display saw Old Haberdashers reduced to 162 all out before fifties for Sam Ledger (54*) and Tom Screen (67*) saw Wheato take the win with just two wickets down. Next up its a trip to fifth placed Bentley Heath.


3rd XI (77-1) beat Shenley Village 4th XI (74 All Out) by 9 wickets:
G. Playle 5 for 9, R. Hodgson 30* & A. Potter 28

The 3rd XI won their fifth game in a row after a one sided game against Shenley Village 4th XI. Geoff Playle bowled superbly to pick up career best figures of 5 for 9 of 14 overs as Shenley Village were bowled out for just 74 before Adam Potter (28) and Richard Hodgson (30*) knocked off the runs just one wicket down. Next up the 3rd XI face Old Camdenians 3rd XI at Kimpton.


4th XI (58 All Out) lost to Harpenden 6th XI (182 All Out) by 124 runs:
U. Hussain 4 for 47, I. Winchester 18 & M. Rowe 14*

The 4th XI couldn't repeat their fine performance last week as they lost to a strong Harpenden 6th XI. Having lost the toss, Alan Bates was asked to bowl and although his men reduced Harpenden to 182 all out with thanks to Usman Hussain (4 for 47), the batting did not fire and Wheato were skittled out for just 58 with only Ian Winchester (18) and Mike Rowe (14*) making double figures. Next up is a trip to Frogmore 2nd XI as they go in search of their first win of the season.
