Boothy stars in Wheato indoor recovery

28 Sep 2011

Wheato Indoor 6s won their first indoor league match in Division 1 after a sensational display by opener Steven Booth. R. Winchester lost the toss and the new side were inserted. Flamstead immediately made the breakthrough as Mark got a lifting ball off a length, directing it to cover.

Robbo went 2 for 2 in run outs after attempting a second run when no one in the ground thought it was on (sorry Robbo!). This brought a collapse as Richard Winchester got caught unluckily of the netting, then Chris and Dan were bowled - Wheato were 63 for 5, still with 4 overs to go!

Despite Boothy thinking we were all out, he was... drum role.. the last man standing!! He started by nurdling singles and then exploided into life as he hit 36 in the last 2 overs, with an 8 off the last ball. This swung the game towards WCC, posting a competitive total and Boothy needing to buy a jug with 66*.

After 2 overs of fielding, we had started poorly again. The opposition were showing us how to run between the wicket and raced to 30 runs for none. Adam 'Jimmy Anderson' Robbo was thrown the ball... and just 12 balls later he had ripped through their team with a masterclass of swing bowling. Chris Martin supported him with a rare maiden leaving Mark to run out the last man standing for 42 to gain the second fielding bonus point.
